Four Pillars of India’s Growth Story Offer Vast Investment Opportunities in UP: Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the expanding investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, saying the state is well positioned to benefit from India’s sustained economic growth.

Addressing the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, Vaishnaw outlined India’s economic trajectory and called upon Japanese businesses to explore investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh. He said India-Japan relations have long been built on trust and that the growing partnership between Japan and Uttar Pradesh could further strengthen economic and industrial ties.

The Union Minister thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for taking forward the initiative and welcomed the Governor of Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture and the accompanying delegation. He said new opportunities were rapidly emerging for Japanese companies in Uttar Pradesh.

Four Pillars Driving India’s Economic Growth

Vaishnaw said India’s current economic growth story can be understood through four key pillars: investment in social, digital and physical infrastructure; inclusive development; manufacturing and innovation; and simplification of laws and regulations.

He said India has been experiencing sustained economic growth of around 6 to 8 per cent, while efforts have also focused on maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation and strengthening the country’s financial position.

According to the minister, these factors have created a strong foundation for a prolonged period of sustainable economic expansion, opening up significant opportunities for domestic and international investors.

Investment Opportunities Across Key Sectors

Vaishnaw said India could witness an extended phase of 6 to 8 per cent economic growth in the coming years, creating investment opportunities across a wide range of sectors.

He specifically highlighted railways, defence, electronics, semiconductors and agriculture, while noting that opportunities would emerge across almost every segment of the economy.

He urged Japanese companies to look beyond India’s broader growth story and explore Uttar Pradesh as a major investment destination.

“Invest in India, invest in Uttar Pradesh,” was the central message of his address to Japanese investors.

The Union Minister said Uttar Pradesh had been undergoing rapid transformation and had developed a stronger foundation for attracting investments. He assured investors that the government was committed to providing the necessary support and facilitating their projects.

He emphasised that the success of investors would contribute directly to the success of India and Uttar Pradesh, while stronger India-Japan economic cooperation could take bilateral industrial ties to a new level in the coming years.

The minister’s remarks came amid a wider effort to deepen economic engagement between Uttar Pradesh and Japan, with Japanese industry leaders exploring opportunities in emerging sectors and the state positioning itself as a major hub for manufacturing, technology and infrastructure-led growth.
